AbsoFarm

The Absolute farm — the ideal community farm.

A greenhouse and a field, an orchard and an apiary, the AbsoFood kitchen and a farm school on twelve hectares. Technology where it pays off; living soil everywhere. The first farms — next to future Absolute centers: near Sochi and on Phu Quoc.

The farm in numbers

Project benchmarks for a single farm.

  • 12 hathe whole farm: field, orchard, greenhouse, hub
  • 0.5 haa greenhouse with a year-round harvest
  • ≈200 tof vegetables a year from the greenhouse at 40 kg/m²
  • 90%of the water reaches the roots: drip instead of furrow irrigation (≈60%)
  • 0 tof organic waste to landfill: it all goes to compost and feed
  • 3–5 yearsfrom bare land to a full farm with a hub and a school

Project benchmarks, not a promise: yields are based on averages for modern farms (sources in the “Model farms” section). Exact figures come once the land is chosen.

Seven principles

  1. 01

    Living soil comes first

No bare ground: green manure, mulch, compost, minimal tillage. Soil organic matter grows every year — it is the farm’s main capital.

  2. 02

    Technology where it pays off

Sensors, drip and a climate computer: yes. Lamps for wheat: no. Every technology is tested against money and yield.

  3. 03

    Water drop by drop

Drip irrigation, rain harvesting, recirculated water in the greenhouse. Water is counted as strictly as money.

  4. 04

    A closed loop

Kitchen waste goes to compost and feed, manure to the soil, heat to the greenhouse. What leaves the farm is harvest, not trash.

  5. 05

    Open to people

A farm school, classes on AbsoLive, volunteer seasons, guests. The farm teaches anyone who wants to grow their own food.

  6. 06

    Honest food

Every batch has a field, a harvest date and lab tests. AbsoFood kitchens know their supplier by name.

  7. 07

    Its own energy

Sun and batteries for pumps, cooling and lights; the grid and diesel are backup.

How the farm grows

  1. Phase 0 · 3–6 months

    Land and water

    • Choosing the site and checking the documents
    • Soil and water tests
    • Farm design and budget
  2. Phase 1 · first season

    Garden and compost

    • Demo garden and compost
    • A small greenhouse and seedlings
    • Apiary and flower strips
  3. Phase 2 · years 2–3

    Greenhouse and orchard

    • High-tech greenhouse
    • Orchard on drip irrigation
    • Solar plant
  4. Phase 3 · years 3–5

    Hub and people

    • AbsoFood kitchen and shop
    • Farm school
    • Cabins for the team and guests

Where

The first farms — next to future Absolute centers, where AbsoFood kitchens and community members are waiting for them.

Russia

Sochi and Krasnaya Polyana

Subtropics by the sea with mountains close by: Russia’s only commercial tea, plus citrus, feijoa, nuts, honey and cheese; greenhouses give greens all year round.

  • AbsoFood kitchens are the first buyers
  • Partner tea farms: 326 ha in use out of 1,203 suitable
  • The national park and the land category are checked before design: building only where it’s allowed
Vietnam

Phu Quoc

A tropical island famous for its pepper, fruit and herbs. The format: a small teaching farm and agritourism with a Vietnamese partner — land here is expensive, and in the dry season every drop of water counts.

  • Net houses against downpours and pests
  • Rain harvesting and drip: the island lives off a single reservoir
  • Land: a lease from the state through a company, or a partnership with a Vietnamese farm

Partner farms

A farm in any region can work to the AbsoFarm standard: audit, technology, sales to the kitchens and to members.

  • The standard: soil, water, honest food
  • Technology and training from AbsoFarm
  • Buyers within the community

The farm comes together from what the community has
