Phu Quoc pepper
The island’s famous pepper is grown by small family farms and sold largely through tours. Land is getting more expensive, and in the dry season every drop of water counts.

Numbers
- Vietnam: 247,482 t of pepper exported and $1.66 billion in 2025 (+26% in revenue).
- Pepper on Phu Quoc: 502 ha in 2015 and 263 ha in 2019 — the land was going to construction.
- The average farm: 0.46 ha; about 30% combine pepper with durian, jackfruit or coconut.
- The Duong Dong reservoir: 5.94 million m³; in the 2025–2026 dry season, residents were asked to save water.
- Pepper farms are a popular tourist stop: tours and night markets sell the harvest.
